Although a considerable amount of work has been done on Bontoc ethnography a search of the literature revealed that little has been written on the working groups which form a very significant part of the culture of Bontoc. The purpose of this paper is to fill this gap by describing the various types of working group, particularly those that are formalized within the context of the ward, and to discuss their functions in the society.
