Despite more than 40 years of existence, the role of the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) remains misunderstood by the society at large. This generalized misunderstanding of such a vital healthcare role has resulted in underutilization of the APRN. There was a paucity of evidence supporting the benefit or methods of marketing the APRN role as an approach to alter misunderstanding. An intervention was developed to educate Hawaii Department of Education stakeholders of the Hawaii Keiki (HK) program on the role of the APRN. Participants viewed an educational video detailing the role of the HK APRN and completed a pre- and post-survey. The educational intervention was effective in increasing the stakeholders' general understanding of the APRN role, and their reported likelihood of using the services provided by the HK APRN. While more studies are needed, educational marketing about the role of the APRNs in the school-based setting should be a priority.
