dc.description | This item includes a segment of a student interview in a Writing Intensive course in Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. The interview was conducted in 2014, and in this clip the interviewee is responding to the question 'What elements of your writing performances would you identify as weak or less than successful, and why?'
dc.description.abstract | Brief excerpt from interview: Before I get started, things seem to be pretty daunting sometimes . . . when I get started on a paper it goes away. But it’s getting started that’s hard. Sometimes I’ll even procrastinate reading the assignment, also for things that are new or big. This assignment was definitely on the scarier end. It was something I hadn’t done before, and it was little bit big. It's this monster that I create in my head, before I see what I need to do . . . [the field work] was another element that added to it, and makes it a little more scary. It’s another thing you have to do and put me out of my comfort zone. But similarly [to writing],when you actually get out there and you see things, these ideas come flying out of you and it makes it beneficial and makes things a lot easier. I took pictures and notes.
