Genre: Medicine/huru: Tante (Aunt) Veronika Punga, kampong Nara, tells about her 'huru nggula' (huru lempuyang gajah. BI.). The lempuyang gajah plant is hung in a tree in the plantation as a sign to protect the trees. Its curse is charged with five symbolic blows with a machete and one sentence that tells the 'huru' to punish the transgressor. The cure uses kencur (BI.) root, 'moro' and lempuyang gajah, chewed with areca nut, piper betel and lime, and is applied around the problem area, the anus. If the disease is too severe, and 'ngiru' is not enough, 'she uses five 'hule' ('hule kera' I suppose) leaves and presses them toward the protruding rectum and anus. Recorded 25 March -16 in the living/guestroom of Wongga Luthe with the H4N Zoom placed by the corner of the table. It was recorded in the early evening with little disturbances; a clear recording. Cawa Lunda is heard asking questions about 'bhulu'. Just the two of us by the table, but others were sitting outside talking. Om Paulus Pidhu and Tante Lebi nearby. A child. Notes: seku, nggula, moro (+hule if needed). (huru nggula. VN). Curse: charged with five symbolic machete blows and a sentence that tells the huru to punish the transgressor. Symptoms: haemorrhoids/rectum protrudes. Cure: chew and apply around the problem area. If the disease is too severe, and ngiru is not enough, she uses five hule (hule mila, I suppose, or hule kera) leaves and presses them toward the protruding rectum and anus.Like with her other 'huru', no 'bhulu wao' adat prayer, 'Peju' payment with small money.
