Abstract
Description
Genre: Medicine/huru. Maria Methi Du'ane (Du'ane = the old, the elder) answers to questions from Cawa Lunda and Pidhu about her huru dhombe, how to make its "house", the sign for the 'huru dombe' prohibition. It uses long grass 'ci'' and hao bamboo. Recorded by SD with Pidhu late morning 20 Sept -15 in Maria's home, sitting on a bamboo plattform/bed, using the AT2020 mic. We had already recorded her the previous day in M M Lelu's house, but the recording was not there anymore. Anyhow we got better recordings, more info, in two files. For more info about 'huru dombe', see Sd1-185, or others. Huru dhombe' uses 'dhombe' root, kencur (similar to ginger), tobacco, 'moro' and 'wetho wa'i'. Later she also mentions tobacco as ingredient (chewed simultaneously I assume). Symptoms 'huru dhombe': swollen limbs, cannot walk, spasms, reumatic problems. The chewed mixture is applied on the legs and feet.
