Ikelau and her two cousins were asked to discuss a series of prompts/questions for roughly ten minutes. The prompt they were given included: Were you given any advice by older relatives before you moved to Oahu for college? What advice would you give a younger cousin preparing to move to UH next year? What do you miss most about Palau? What are the first things you would do/eat when you return? Participants were encouraged to speak how they would when regularly chatting, without worrying about not using English, or using ‘correct’ Palauan.
