S, Household Model for Economic and Social Studies, is a computer model developed at the East-West Center to forecast the number and demographic characteristics of households. By applying the model to standard population projections, the user is provided projections of the number of households; the age and sex of the household head; average household size; the number, age, and sex of household members; and other basic demographic information about households. This demographic information is used, in turn, to forecast related social and economic trends and to examine the links between population growth and economic development.
