dc.description Eric Morris Andersen was born in Waialua, Oʻahu in 1962. He attended Mid Pacific Institute in Mānoa for High School and later graduated from Humboldt State University in California. In 1985 he moved to Maui to volunteer and then work for Haleakalā National Park. He stayed on Maui until 1999 before moving back to Oʻahu for a few years. He has worked at a number of national parks and memorials including the Arizona Memorial, Puʻuhonua o Hōnaunau National Historical Park, the Kīpahulu Unit and the Summit District of Haleakalā National Park, and Crater Lake National Park in Oregon. In 2011, he moved back to the Big Island, and worked for Kaloko-Honokohau and Puʻuhonua o Hōnaunau National Historic Parks. In 2014, he moved to Colorado and worked at Mesa Verde National Park before retiring and moving home to Maui. His family also has deep connections to Haleakalā.
