dcterms.abstractStudies have shown that smaller learning communities increase student engagement and personalization. With the increased capability of and access to online communication, online learning communities may have the potential to provide more meaningful learning experiences at the high school and college level. Two years of project work in an international, interdisciplinary online learning community have resulted in students attaining depth in their thematic studies as well as finding more meaningful connections of these themes to their own lives and to the ideas and lives of their peers.
