dc.description.abstract	The 24-hour news cycle is not a significant factor affecting the overall quality of television news in the United States. Nine journalists and former journalists were interviewed to determine if the 24-hour news cycle has had an effect on the quality of television news. They did not agree that the 24-hour news cycle is degrading the quality of news; they did agree that the quality of television news in the United States is degrading. The journalists also agreed that television news within the 24-hour news cycle can be of high quality if the organizations and the journalists working within those organizations make a commitment to doing high quality television news.
