Abstract

The inmediate concern of this thesis is an enzyme system in the vasculature of hypertensive animals, while the broader and underlying concern is the mechanism of hypertension. The immediate goal of the experiments to be reported here is the elucidation of certain characteristics of the enzyme system. The thesis as a whole, however, deals with hypertension, and it reflects the efforts underĀ taken to clarify in my own mind the connection between hypertension and a vascular enzyme system. Thus, the goals which directed the writing of the thesis include considerable literature reviews in addition to the design, performance and analysis of laboratory experimentation.
