Abstract

Description

Genre: Medicine/huru. Anastasia Roja, kampong Wolo ndopho, Edo (Hedho) domain explains about her 'huru lo wetho' (intestines falling, hanging out). Recorded by Pidu (Ebbe) 21 Oct -15 with the AT Lavelier mic – so keep the volume low! Roja collects thorn from the damar stem, 'hule kera' root. As a curse, this 'huru' is hung in the plantation, among jambu, coconut. To charge the curse, to 'huru', egg shell is used, laid down by the tree, and 'lo' ('nggula'?). She does not tell more about the "charge". The cure uses a thorn from 'bathu' tree and 'hule kera' leaves, chewed with the usual areca nut and piper betel (with lime) (sirih pinang) an lime. The mixture is applied around the belly (?). The lower intestine is pushed back with the feet, not hands. Family members were around. See also the recording from 13 Oct - 15 – the same 'huru' , told a little differently. Pictures.
