We put a heavy emphasis on—what have the students done with what we provided them? . . . They are able to apply what they've learned... about this community, even if they leave this community . . . They have not only a sense of being [in] Hawaiʻi but all the projects they did . . . It's so important to have a very distinctive sense of being in Hawaiʻi and doing stories that are relevant to Hawaiʻi because Hawaiʻi is where our viewers are.
