Abstract

Mangoes in Hawaii had no available quarantine treatment to disinfest the fruit of tephritid fruit flies, thus preventing their export to many countries. Efforts to develop an approvable forced hot-air treatment for fruit fly eggs and larvae were described. Mango weevil remained a major problem, which a treatment effective for fruit flies was unlikely to affect.
