Abstract

Description

Genre: Medicine/ngiru huru: Warsoni Meti's 'huru bhapha' recorded by images and videoclip only with the Olympus PEN-1 camera. Huru bhapha is a rather common huru. There are several other recordings in the collection, each a little different, to compare with. Cure: chew 'haja' bark, rice (probably allowed and better to use paddy grains, 'siwe'). The chewed mixture is then applied to the swollen body parts, in this case the chin of little Huke, Meti's daughter. Toothache, or just terrible itching on the chin (in which case it can be 'huru méro'). Videoclip (mp4), image series (jpg files in PDF): Recorded 18 June -15 (focus not perfect).
