Abstract

"The progress achieved in the performance of the second year of the environmental baseline survey of the Kilauea East Rift Zone is described in this report. This is the first progress report for the second year of the survey and covers the period January 1, 1984, through May 31, 1984. A final report for the first year of the survey has been submitted to the Hawaii Department of Planning and Economic Development. The primary activities during the January 1, 1984, through May 31, 1984, period have been the continued operation of the sulfur dioxide/hydrogen sulfide monitor located in Volcano Village, and the installation and operation of inhalable/respirable particulate monitors (dichotomous samplers) at Volcano Village and at a site located near Leilani Estates (Site 2). As with the earlier progress reports for the first year of the survey, only limited interpretation of the data is presented at this time, since the project can best be described as still being in the data acquisition phase II. Prepared for the Department of Planning and Economic Development, State of Hawaii."
