Structural illumination

Abstract

My work is an exploration of microscopic organic structures and architecture. Macroscopic architecture and microscopic organisms, both organic and man-made, have significant similarities to each other. The focus of my research revolves around structures and systems, specifically the intricacies of both the natural and the man-made. I am interested in how these structures function, what they are made out of, how they work sufficiently, and most importantly how they relate to the laws of nature. To bring more awareness to these organisms I interpret their natural aesthetics in the medium of printmaking; incorporating aspects of traditional handcraft, light, Japanese handmade paper, and an almost monochromatically palette of white.
