Abstract

This study was conducted with the purpose of contributing to the taxonomic and distributional knowledge on the reef-building coralline algae, namely, the members of the Melobesioideae. This red algal subfamily of the family Corallinacea, order Cryptonemlales, seems to include all the algae that have a direct role in atoll formation.
