Brief excerpt from interview: [One character in a creative piece I wrote for this class] had light-colored skin, so everyone in Samoa made fun of him and nobody really liked him, so he felt like an outcast. Everybody would call him 'Puki,' which was a funny sounding name.

This item includes a segment of a student interview in a Writing Intensive course in Indo-Pacific Languages at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. The interview was conducted in 2013, and in this clip the interviewee is responding to the question 'In responding to your instructor's writing assignment, what challenges did you face?'
