A Palama Settlement club member describes breaking down bomb shelters and sanding the pool walls at the settlement, the Crusaders club and their legal and not-so-legal activities, swimming and other team sports, and fresh-air camp. He also relates how he overcame his delinquency and academic problems to join the military, educate himself, and become a teacher and principal.
