Abstract

Description

Genre: Medicine/huru. Maria Lebi Da'a, kampong Hobo, tells about her 'huru nai tona' (huru "loss of breath"), midday 26 Sept -15. She braids a sign, a box, with lontar leaves. Put some soil in it, until full, stick four pieces of bamboo ('hao') in it. Then you hang the sign on a cashew tree and if someone comes to steal cashew, he will be ill, loose his breath. The cure is with sirih pinang, 'moro' (plant), 'pothe labhene' (small lontar braided container with layers, the sign) and 'seku' (BI. kencur). Put the mixture on the chest and then a short 'bulu wa'o' prayer. Recorded with the ATR3350 lavelier mic. With a family member whose voice is heard too. I ask questions.
