Genre: Medicine/huru. Anastasia Roja, kampong Wolondopho, Edo (Hedho) domain, explains about her 'huru hegu'. Recorded by Ebbe 21 Oct -15 with the AT Lavelier mic – the first seconds are disturbed. Watch the volume. See also the 'huru hegu' file from 13 Oct -15 (SD1-137), the first time Roja was recorded by Pidu Sophune, Ebbe). The sign/curse hung in the plantation uses 'hao' bamboo and 'hegu' plant, and it is burnt after one 'knows that somebody has picked/stolen fruits, to make the symptoms appear fast. Symptoms: Sour joints (reumatic symptoms). Cure: Scraped 'hegu' wood and the usual areca nut and piper betel (with lime) (sirih pinang), garlic, ginger and (7 'hao' bamboo shoots, in 'hao')and 7 long grass shoots/tops, are all chewed together. The mixture is applied to where it hurts, and she 'bhulu wa'o', utter a prayer. Family members were around while recording; Mina, Mas, Misone, Bae (Mina's child).
