Abstract
Accordingly, this essay will revisit the cases of violence against women discussed in Lee's chapter, Culture and Crime." This Essay will reveal that central to the success of these cultural defense cases is the veiled act of "ascribing otherness," the mapping of foreignness onto the body of one not consulted in the process of identification - in these cases the silent body of the deceased women.
