I did a lot of research about how the food came to Hawaiʻi and how it evolved in Hawaiʻi . . . This is learning about modern Hawaiʻi and why things are the way they are . . . Breaking apart stereotypes and really digging down into what the culture or the people . . . where those influences come from . . . It also helps you differentiate between what Native Hawaiians had and what we have now.
