Abstract

In Hawaii, ginger is a specialty crop that produces excellent cash returns in spite of serious losses due to disease and insect problems. It is estimated that a threefold increase in production is possible with effective disease control. A reduction of production costs by eliminating diseases would make Hawaii ginger more competitive in the market.
