The first chair of the SFCA board discusses his plantation childhood, sports, post-war Hawaii politics, Nadao Yoshinaga, and John Burns. He talks about his appointment to the SFCA board, artist Tadashi Sato, value of art, SFCA executive directors Alfred Preis and Sarah Richards, Model Cities and community arts councils, Art in State Buildings law, SFCA opponent Duke Kawasaki, and the Maui Community Arts and Cultural Center. Masaru Yokouchi was also interviewed for the Hawaii Political History Documentation Project (17-31-1-89, 17-32-1-89).
