Abstract
Description
Nanea Nāpuahalaohā‘ena Sproat-Armitage was born in Līhu‘e, and then raised her entire life in Kalihiwai, Kaua‘i where she currently lives with her husband, Nelson and their children. Nelson was born in Honolulu, O‘ahu, where many of his family comes from, and then was later raised in Ha‘ikū, Maui. Nanea and Nelson bath come from very tight-knit communities, which influenced their experiences when they started boarding at Lahainaluna High School. Nanea entered the boarding program as a freshman, a year after Nelson entered his freshman year. Both enjoyed extracurricular activities; wrestling and sports for Nelson, and FFA for Nanea. They held multiple jobs over the years that they were boarders, such as yard, and riding in the ‘ōpala truck. They both have fond memories of their classmates, dorm attendants, and teachers. Lahainaluna is also how they met, and stayed together ever since.
