Two New Species of Astichus (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae: Entiinae) and Their Ciid Hosts (Coleoptera: Ciidae) in Bracket Fungi on Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi

Abstract

Two new species of Astichus found on Oʻahu island, A. elauelei Honsberger & Lorenzo-Elarco sp. nov. and A. elauuli Honsberger & Lorenzo-Elarco sp. nov., are described. Astichus elauelei was observed parasitizing larvae of the endemic Cis pacificus in the bracket fungus Fuscoporia gilva by direct observation of parasitized larvae. Additionally, it parasitized larvae of an adventive Xylographus sp. in the bracket fungus Earliella scabrosa, as determined through exposure of sentinel colonies of the spectrum of ciid beetles inhabiting polypores from which the parasitoid had been observed to emerge. A species of Pteromalini (Hymenoptera: Pteromalidae) was also recorded parasitizing larvae of Cis paritii in Trametes versicolor through direct observation.
