Abstract
Description
Monica Kalikimaka Akamu was born in 1977, and grew up in Ka‘u, Hawai‘i Island. She found out about boarding at Lahainaluna from her friends, and decided to attend; she boarded at Lahainaluna from her freshman year to her senior year. While at Lahainaluna, she recalls the many memories she had in Lahaina town, spending time with friends, activities at Lahainaluna and the dynamics within the boarding program. After graduating, she became a teacher, and started her family. She now resides in Ka‘u with her husband and kids, still immensely proud of her alma mater, and passing that sense of pride down to her keiki.
