Creating Teaching Excellence: Developing a Prestige Faculty Development Program

Abstract

This session will explore the development of a prestige faculty development program that focuses on sustaining and improving teaching excellence in medical schools. Through this session, attendees will learn to identify the founding of a prestige program, explore potential barriers, and develop a plan to troubleshoot and overcome such barriers to create an effective program. The session will highlight the challenges faced by faculty in maintaining their commitment to teaching quality and discuss how longitudinal faculty development programs can increase faculty resilience and teaching competence. The session will include a discussion of the planning framework and potential barriers in creating a prestige program, along with an activity where participants will develop their own framework to create a sustainable and durable program at their home institution.
