Abstract: | "The intent of this document is to help guide developers of direct use geothermal projects through the regulatory process of drilling, using and disposing of low temperature geothermal fluids in Hawaii. This guide will provide background on the state regulatory process and identify contact information necessary for completing the various applications and permits. This guide; however, cannot substitute for direct communication with the regulatory agencies. These agencies need to be contacted early in the process so that any regulatory hurdles are identified upfront and in time. Projects that are located on federal lands are regulated according to the national Geothermal Steam Act and related federal regulations." |
