Abstract
Act 296, SLH 1983, relating to geothermal energy was signed into law on June 14, 1983 by Governor George R. Ariyoshi. The Board of Land and Nat ural Resources is charged with the responsibility of designating geothermal resource subzones in the State of Hawaii. Once subzones are established, all geothermal activities including the exploration, development, production and distribution of electrical energy may be conducted only in the designated geothermal resource subzones. This Plan of Study outlines the implementing strategy of the Department of Land and Natural Resources in designating geothermal resource subzones in the State of Hawaii.
