Abstract:This article will explore the most important types of private legislation, discuss the various Congressional committees that have considered private bills, review the legislative process, and provide some examples of private bills illustrating different problems that required private legislation in order to be resolved. The information value of reports on private laws and House and Senate records related to private laws will also be explored.
