Abstract
Historically in France, the education of children with disabilities has been characterized by isolation from other schoolchildren, within an adapted framework. Today, policies of integration reject segregation by welcoming “different” children into ordinary classrooms. After describing the major shifts in the education of children with disabilities, this article describes the social implications and stakes of integration.
