Symptoms: ill, crying, moving body back forth in the night (often children, baby in this case) etc. Materials in cure: bamboo pipe 'pela' and paddy grains, areca betel (sirih pinang). The chewed mixture is applied from the forehead down until the navel. See file SD1-183 about the same 'huru kero diu', with more annotations; transcripts, translations. Bega's and Methi's baby suffered from some kind of anxiety. Or was there a connection with the Palu'e baby rituals? Recorded in Mata mere 3 April -17 when I visited the island for a week and stayed two nights nextdoor to Bega & Methi's house. There is also a PDF-file with a few images.|
