|Description:||Genre: Medicine/huru. Bapak Pui is host to an arsenal of 'huru'. 11 recorded so far, 10 on one earlier occasion. On this unannounced visit 3 Oct -15 in the afternoon I recorded 'huru rubu', with the AT2020 mic, sitting in the main, front room, which I have often used as "studio". This item is 'huru rubu' ("huru arrow"). It is also a sign/prohibition that is hung in fruit trees. The sign is made from 'waju' (BI. waru landak). The plant's leaves or branches are hung or put there by the stem. Symtom: small pimples around the eyes and on the eyelids. Cure: Take a 'welu' fruit (kemiri, (Aleurites mokiccana, Aleurites moluccana) and circle (move touching) it around the eyes five times. moluccana), and then close the eyelids. Then crush the fruit and take the flesh out. Add shoot(s) from 'waju' (waru landak) and chew with areca nut, piper betel and lime. Apply to the eyes; eyelids. Present at the recording were also his daughter Methi and son Mboe, and wife, Yuli.|
