Abstract
Description
Genre: Medicine/huru. Grandmother Marselina Methi, kampong Hoka, Ndeo, tells a little about how she cures 'huru dheku heko'. Symptoms: ear problems, pain in ears. She chews with ginger and 'jarak wulung' branch. Betel and lime unmentioned, but she uses it. Special: her 'huru dheku heko' does not use 'dheku heko', a forest snail. Its house is used, crushedand mixed with the chew, by other practitioners. Like in the other recordings she tells how she 'siko' (throws away bad luck) with five spits and a short 'bhulu wa'o'. Recorded with the AT2020 mic by SD and HR, late morning 16 June 2015 sitting on the 'woga' by her house. Her sister Lanu was also present.
