Title:Documenting and Reclaiming Secwepemc ornithological knowledge through research and technology
Contributors:Ignace, Marianne (speaker)
Ignace, Ronald (speaker)
Date Issued:03 Mar 2019
Description:We present documentation of Secwepemc ornithological knowledge reflected in bird names, bird song and stories connected to Secwepemc environmental knowledge, spiritual and social concepts. Digital technology plays a vital role in mobilizing such re-claimed linguistic knowledge, but from the perspective of Indigenous communities, it cannot replace living interaction with birds.
