|Description:||Genre: Fable. Title: Palu'e fable narrated by Paula Paji (b. c. 1930s) in a room in her home, the most prominent in kampong Ndeo (village heads etc), morning 14 Feb 2014, one of my first "real" recordings on Palu'e, three tales in one session. This funny fable, Ro'a no'o Meo (Monkey and cat). The struggle between the monkey and the cat explains why there are no monkeys on Palu'e (an unusual fact), and why there are cats. 'Dhoko' is a 2-3 m piece of bamboo that one uses to push the boat by sticking it to sand or stone. Lio is the name of the nearest land region to Palu'e on Flores. In the Palu'e annotation, Indonesian words are within parentheses.|
