Abstract
Description
Genre: Fairy tale. Title: Ro'a no'o De'u (Monkey and rat). Mboe Erixon (12 yrs) recorded by his sister Maria Methi in their home in Mata mere late in the evening 3 Oct 2015, as preparation for her first recordings by herself the following day – with Mboe who was also learning. Mboe tells a variant of the Monkey and Rat fable. They are friends but take an oath of fire, to hide in a hole with fire at the entrance. The rat can dig and escape but the monkey cannot, so he dies and people want to put the rat in jail, in a container or something else, a bamboo in the end. The rat pretends that it is just eating something inside but gnaws at the bamboo and finally escapes. With his parents Pui and Yuli.
