Brief excerpt from interview: It was nice to get feedback for what we did throughout the course. We would get feedback from one assignment and make it better for the next. When we wrote our assignments that were submitted, it always came back with comments, pointing out what's the good topic or if there's a good point... We took the time to think about what we were writing about it and that it reflects, and we get the key points that are in the rubrics.

This item includes a segment of a student interview in a Writing Intensive course in American Studies at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. The interview was conducted in 2013, and in this clip the interviewee is responding to the question 'What elements of your writing performances would you identify as strong or successful, and why? What defines success for you? What do you think determines success for this instructor?'
