Abstract
Peroxisomes are single membrane-bound, subcellular organelles which contain the enymes peroxidase, catalase, D-amino acid oxidase, uricase and L-a-hydroxyacid oxidase. In animals, numerous peroxisomes are found in the cytoplasm of virtually all cells of the body, including adipose and lymphoid cells and are functionally thought to be involved in hydrogen peroxide metabolism.
