Abstract
In the last decade and a half, there has been considerable accumulation of evidence to support the concept of a sodium-potassium stimulated adenosine triphosphatase (Na-K ATBase) which is intimately involved in the active transport of ions across biological membranes. Studies of the relationship between the two processes eventually led to an under standing of a mechanism of ion transport.
