|Abstract:||During the Fall semester of 1971, I experienced some very discouraging moments 1n connection with my field work in a Honolulu elementary school. I had just returned from a semester in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where I was a teacher's aide in a Follow Through classroom. The two teachers I had worked with had some refreshing approaches to classroom education and I wanted very much to share some of my experiences with others and to try those ideas out in a classroom. I was politely told by my Cooperating Teacher that in the, and with age, I'd learn that many of these new ideas don't work. I felt totally frustrated at not even being given the opportunity to try.|
