Abstract
There are theories and studies which support the beliefs that foreign language learning is important, that a good time to form positive attitudes towards foreign language learning is during the lementary school grades, and that the elementary school grades are an optimum time to begin the study of a foreign language. Because I believe in these theories, I decided to put them into action by designing and executing a four-week foreign language program for a sixth grade class with the primary objective of changing or improving attitudes towards foreign language learning so that they become positive ones while learning basic speaking and listening skills in the foreign language. In addition to an evaluation of the program, the success of failure of the program is to be judged by an attitude questionnaire administered before and after the four week period and by a short interview with each student to assess achievement and to tap attitudes.
