|Publisher:||University of Hawaii at Manoa|
|Abstract:||Nowhere is the diversity in cultural heritage, lifestyle, personality, temperament, and ability more evident than in the population of American public schools today. Yet the bulk of the educational nurture of this wealth of difference is left to school systems which are too ill-prepared to appreciate and aid in the flowering of this difference. Instead, students must pass through the grades of the school system, a non-too-sturdy mold which smooths the edges of difference into the forms· of middle class citizens, many times too inept at. its job.|
