Abstract
The overall objective of this thesis is to analyze R. eutropha utilization of glucose, fructose, and LA individually and in multi-substrate cultures. There are two core objectives: 1. By using a Monod model, determine the kinetics of individual substrates. Also, compare the consumption rates of glucose and fructose in single and multiple substrate cultures, and at different C/N ratios. 2. Reveal the initial key reactions in the metabolic pathway of LA utilization by in vitro bio-conversion and HPLC analysis.
