Drawing on institutional strengths at UH Manoa in botanical education, applied ethnobotany, plant conservation and museum specimen acquisition, the DBRC undertakes projects that focus primarily on the digitization of herbarium specimens, botanical published literature, books, and related data sets pertaining to the Hawaiian Islands, the Pacific Islands and Southeast Asia. Our goal is to expand the nation’s capacity to teach and learn about plant biodiversity effectively through research and materials development projects. The primary audience for most DBRC endeavors is both the public, botanical educators/instructors and applied researchers involved in plant biodiversity conservation.
