Item type: Item , Gamification Research for Autistic People: A Scientometric Analysis and Scoping Review(2026-01-06) De Souza Oliveira, Lais Aparecida; Oliveira Da Silva Junior, Luiz; Oliveira, Wilk; Soltiyeva, Aiganym; Hamari, JuhoGamification for autistic people is an emerging area of research. However, the existing literature, developed over just a little more than a decade, remains insufficiently mapped and understood by the academic community. To address this gap, we conducted a scientometric analysis combined with a scoping review. We followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) framework to conduct the study. Key themes, types of interventions, and publication venues were identified, along with trends in publication activity, major contributors, and prevailing methodological designs. The findings highlight the need for future international and interdisciplinary collaborations, the conduct of longitudinal studies, and a stronger emphasis on knowledge translation and practical impact. Our study contributes to the fields of mental health and gamification by tracing the evolution of gamification research for autistic people over time and by offering insights to guide future developments in the field.Item type: Item , Gamifying Climate Change: How Climate-Oriented Boosts Influence Strategy in a Virtual Reality Common Pool Resource Game(2026-01-06) Boros, Anna; Biesaga, Mikolaj; Ziembowicz, Karolina; Lewandowska, Weronika; Talaga, Szymon; Spanlang, Bernhard; Jesús Pérez Zurera, Manuel; Puig Ganza, Roger; Nowak, Andrzej; Bartkowski, WiesławDespite acknowledging that climate crisis is a global emergency, human attempts to curb emissions are still insufficient. This partially stems from unprecedented nature of this threat which looms large but for many is relatively distant on a temporal and social horizon. Participants in this study engaged in an incentivized common-pool resource game within an immersive virtual reality (VR) environment. We compare participants behavior in VR game in two conditions in which either additional environmental cues and interventions are present (experimental) or not (control). Both quantitative and qualitative results from the experiment provide clear evidence of interventions impact on resource management strategy. Participants in the experimental condition reported enhanced solidarity with other players and natural environment. Over the course of the game they shifted their initial strategy to more sustainable, even in the face of clear self-interest to maximize own resource intake.Item type: Item , The Role of Technological Setup in Shaping a Satisfying User Experience in Mixed Reality Games: An Empirical Investigation(2026-01-06) Zhou, Zhongyun; Li, Weichen; Thiebes, Scott; Jin, Xiao-LingMixed Reality (MR) games blend physical and digital realms to deliver immersive playful user experiences (UX), yet their user base remains small and processual understanding is limited. This study proposes and empirically validates a two-stage perspective of MR game UX, distinguishing between the instrumental stage (technological setup and preparation) and the experiential stage (in-game interaction and enjoyment). Using large-scale user data, we demonstrate that instrumental-stage perceptions, including facilitating conditions, effort expectancy, performance expectancy are necessary for overall satisfaction with the experiential stage (ESOS). Moreover, ESOS has a stronger impact on users’ recommendation intention and continuance intention to the MR game, compared with overall satisfaction with the instrumental stage (ISOS). ISOS and ESOS both play significant mediating roles across MR games’ UX journey. These findings provide theoretical contributions to the understanding of MR game engagement and offer practical implications for designing more engaging MR experiences.Item type: Item , Introduction to the Minitrack on Gamification(2026-01-06) Hamari, Juho; Morschheuser, Benedikt; Xi, Nannan; Oliveira, Wilk
