Language education has been revolutionized by the availability of electronic resources. The boundaries between distance education and traditional education are dissolving as both distance and non-distance language classes make use of multiple technologies, especially the Web, for delivering educational resources — hence the term "distributed learning." The University of Hawai`i National Foreign Language Resource Center is pleased to announce its 2004 Summer Institute Symposium Distance Education, Distributed Learning & Language Instruction: Reports from the Field. Invited and selected language educators with significant experience using distance and distributed learning models will be presenting on their work during the three-and-a-half-day Symposium to be held on July 27-30, 2004.
